Enjoy Donuts and ‘Java with Joe’
August 26 Viera event introduces seniors to Brevard County Sheriff’s Office initiatives
(VIERA, FL) August 10, 2026 – One Senior Place will go beyond the badge with Deputy Joe Downs during an informal event that focuses on valuable safety programs for Brevard County seniors and their families. Enjoy complimentary donuts and coffee with a Q&A during Java with Joe, Wednesday, August 26 at 10 AM at 8085 Spyglass Hill Road in Viera. A Reserve Deputy with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Joe Downs has dedicated over 12 years to public safety and law enforcement-related community programs in Brevard County. His broader community and public welfare service spans more than three decades. Since 2014, Joe has served as the coordinator for Project Lifesaver, an electronic search-and-rescue program run by the BCSO to locate lost individuals. All jokes about cops and donuts aside, Angie Higgins, Director of One Senior Place, expects the Wednesday morning Java with Joe to be a relaxed and informative event for seniors.
“Joe Downs is a wealth of public safety experience and information,” said Higgins. “This event will help seniors and their families learn more about the additional safety resources available in Brevard and put a face on the programs administered by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.”
