BREVARD COUNTY — There’s a lot of talk about the COVID-19 vaccine and a lot of different opinions about it.

Whether you have a question on where the best place is to get a vaccine, how to make an appointment, is it really safe to get one, Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. Summerpal Kahlon will be able to answer during a special question and answer session on Wednesday, March 24.

One Senior Place will host this informational event in-person at 10 a.m. with limited, socially-distanced seating at its location, 8085 Spyglass Hill Road, Viera.

An RSVP for seating is required. Alternatively, a Zoom link will be available to those who wish to attend virtually by calling One Senior Place at (321) 751-6771.

“We are getting questions regarding the vaccine on a daily basis,” said Barbara Fradkin, director of One Senior Place. “The seniors are very anxious to get this vaccine. They have many questions about availability, which one is better and whether they still need to wear masks and abide by other guidance.”

The most common question seniors call in for at One Senior Place tends to be “How quickly will we get an appointment once we are registered for the vaccine?”

Senior Partner Care Services, an affiliate of One Senior Place, has been assisting seniors in registering for the vaccine. With many seniors facing a difficult experience with maneuvering the official state vaccine website, Ms. Fradkin said One Senior Place is there to help.

“With the vaccine age requirement being lowered, many seniors are concerned that they will be forgotten and have to wait longer for their vaccines,” she said.

Meanwhile, it’s also important to note, Ms. Fradkin said, that just because something is posted on Facebook or a neighborhood website doesn’t mean it’s a fact.

“It is important to fact-check information before it is passed on to others,” Ms. Fradkin explained. “Talk to your doctor, or other medical professionals.”

This COVID Q&A is presented in partnership with Florida Health Care Plans. The event is open to persons of all ages.

One Senior Place has a COVID resources page on its website with links to official information. Visit OneSeniorPlace.com to find out more.
